A lot of new producers have been making buzz this year but one of my personal favorites has been UK producer BEWILDERBEAST, releasing the single “Bodies//Faces” off his newly released album State of the Art//The ET Recording, which is a four track series inspired by Lain M Banks’ short story collection ‘State of the Art’ that he recreates beautifully by sound. “Bodies//Faces” starts off feeling like a droned out summer bummer day then just after two minutes, hypnotic glo-fi waves flow in and spin the song into a tropical playground. The video adds the perfect visual experience for what you’re hearing, with eerie clips of ‘Halloween III: Season of the Witch’ and ‘The Lawnmower Man’ then creating a nostalgic summer vibe with ‘The Living Curl.’ This is just one quarter of the experience State of the Art//The ET Recording recreates from Lain M Banks’ masterpiece. The album is well worth the purchase, though if you don’t have five dollars to spare go to his soundcloud to find his previous releases for download.
